Brain Baseball (Cerebreisbol: The sport of the undead)
Players: 3-7
Playing Time: 20 min
Need: A deck of poker without jokers.
How to play:
cards in the deck have the courage of their numbers, the Jacks are worth 11 points, Queens 12, Kings 13. Aces are low (1 point) except when used as letters of Field (Garden), in which case worth 15 points. The two also are high cards to play as Field (Garden), in which case worth 14 points.
To start shuffles the cards and deal a hand of seven cards to each player. The game consists of several rounds, or "tricks", each of which has a pitch (throwing the ball), a swing (swing the bat to try to hit the ball), and a catch (try to grab the ball to been designed by a hit, that is a stroke of bat). Each complete set of tricks is called an "entry." After just one entry, the dealer happened to be to the left and the game ends when each player is dealt an entry.
Pitching: The trick starts with a pitch. The delivery pitched the first trick of each entry, and subsequently the pitches thrown by one who has been with the last ball. The Pitcher plays a card from your hand to the table, placing it face up. This letter is the "ball."
Batting: Starting at the left of the Pitcher, all but the pitcher has a chance to make a "swing" to try to hit the ball. They do this by playing a card that is equal or less than the value of the ball, but higher than any batting that has been played so far. For example, if the ball was a 7, and 4 has been played, the only legal batting would are 5, 6 and 7. Batting make an attempt is always optional, even if you have the appropriate letter.
The closest batting not hit the ball pass. Put the ball in front of the hitter, and discards all cards of Batting. If the ball was not hit by anyone, is a "Strike." In this case, the pitcher gets the ball to win the points that of, and pitching again immediately.
Important Rule: If a player throwing three strikes in a row wins the game!
Fielding: A Once the ball has been batted, every player except the batter has a chance to catch the ball, starting with the player to the left of the batter. As with batting, Fielding (set of Garden) is always optional.
To catch the ball you must play the highest card, so much like you did when you tried to hit. The only difference is that the higher is always better. The first letter "to trap" must be equal to or greater than the value of the ball, and subsequent letters must be greater than the last letter "to trap" play.
Note: Catch, and only the Catch (Fielding), the Ace and 2 are 15 and 14 points respectively.
If nobody catches the ball that was batted, then the batter gets the ball and make the next pitch (Released). If the ball was caught, then the Gardener (field player) that makes the next pitch caught. Ending a
Entry: The entry continues until only one player has cards. In other words, when that junior player who has played his last letter cards, this should be the last round of the entry. Each ball is now worth its number in points. Write down the points you have (for every ball you've got) and shuffle the deck.
If you get to make a pitch (Released) a player has no cards, you simply go to your left. Alternative
to bet: To use this as a betting game, play each entry as a separate hand, the dealer becomes the player to the left. Each time a player makes a pitch, you must put a dollar in the Well for every point in the pitch. Whoever wins takes all the entry money at the Well.
Note: You can tell immediately that there is not much incentive to hit the ball. Only what you do to prevent the pitcher gets another strike, or if you're not risking anyone bother to hit. If you play for money and makes 3 Strikes Pitcher does not win the game, but immediately takes all the money in the Well.
Comment: This game I played tonight and was very funny, put names to the "equipment" gave us a lot of fun, Club Atletico Bernales Zombie, Undead, etc. Fabulous. the game is won I did not play using the version for the money but we put a little money before you start and the end I take it myself. The game was fun and worked well, the theme of zombies gives a special touch to a game that could well be abstract, but the track really suits him. This little game is Cheapass Games.
